Marklund is a non-profit organization that provides services for infants, children, teens and adults with profound disabilities and special healthcare needs. The Foglia Education Center in Geneva provides specialized support for people on the autism spectrum, serving students from ages 3-22. The program works with students from several local school districts, helping provide care the schools may not otherwise be able to offer.
The two story, 28,000 SF new construction consists of classroom spaces for students with multi-needs, students across the autism spectrum, and life skills. Supplemental spaces such as calming rooms, sensory rooms, and monitoring rooms are inserted throughout the plan. Additionally, offices for both administration and the fund raising department, and flexible learning spaces such as a cafeteria, multi-purpose room and multiple therapy rooms are throughout. Outdoor learning environments will be created around the facility to provide sheltered and open learning opportunities for students and staff.
