Hoffman Estates High School Library

The existing library at Hoffman Estates High School was renovated in 2018 to follow suit with the other recent THSD library transformations. The existing library layout did not support the demand from the students and the space was lacking in dedicated breakout and technology spaces.

ARCON worked with the dedicated library and tech staff to create a plan that would better meet the needs of the end users. The library was reorganized to capture additional space currently used for Tutoring and Study Hall and those needs were met in the reconfigured space. The existing circulation desk was reduced in size to dedicate more square footage for student use. The technology office was re-positioned and a support counter was created to promote student aid and interaction. Offices and small breakout spaces were arranged for a clear view into the library.

A curved, glazed entrance replaces the previous entry point that was tucked away and a library commons was created across from a main thoroughfare and within direct access from a main stairway. The renovation provided a nice refresh to the space, while complimenting the existing character. A cafe is tucked away with a separate entry point and houses comfortable student seating which can also be used as a breakout space or an after hours event space.
