Northbrook School District 27 renovated an existing classroom at Wood Oaks Junior High School to create a new STEAM/Applied Technology Lab.
The Lab houses the school’s Applied Technology Program, STEAM electives and the Broadcast studio. The space provides flexible seating for students, ample counter space for 3-D printers, wireless projection systems, storage space and robotics game tables. A playful ceiling design and introduction of color creates a dynamic learning environment, while exposed structure is an appropriate compliment to a makerspace that supports hands-on learning. A “Brainstorming Area” provides a unique breakout space and supports the programmatic drive for flexibility.
